the Western Mediterranean. Along the way, glimpse dramatic cliffs clustered with Italian villas, taste
some of the freshest seafood in the world, or stroll cobblestone streets lined with bars, gelaterias,
and boutiques. Stop in Menton, to soak up the art and culture, explore the famed Portofino and visit
the charming French island of Corsica. Our cruise finishes in Civitavecchia, the main seaport of
Rome.
DAY 1
Nice, France
Your deluxe cruise begins in Nice, where you’ll be transferred to your Emerald Cruises luxury yacht and begin your journey along the Western Mediterranean. Once you’ve settled into your cabin and you have toured the ship to see its many onboard amenities, you’ll meet your fellow guests and journalists as we host an onboard champagne welcome reception as we sail out of Nice harbour.
DAY 2
Menton, France
The Côte d’Azur is synonymous with outstanding beauty, where you can find many gorgeous Provencal cities such as Menton, known for its beautiful warm colours. Nestled between Monaco and Italy, this seaside town is a wonderful mix of unique architecture and luscious gardens. Experience our first morning Globe Insider Breakfast, where you can peruse a printed copy of The Globe and Mail and listen to Globe journalists discuss the daily headlines. Following breakfast, choose from one of four excursion options including; a tour of nearby Monte Carlo, Eze with a visit to the Villa Rothschild Gardens, a wine tour and tasting at a local winery, a culinary tour or tour the town of Menton, taste the local lemon products and visit the historic wedding hall. This afternoon enjoy a Globe Journalist Talk followed by dinner onboard.
DAY 3
Santa Margherita Ligure & Portofino, Italy
Santa Margherita Ligure is an Italian resort town with panoramic views, revered for its timeless elegance and style. If you are seeking la dolce vita, you will find it here in abundance. Stroll the Santa Margherita promenade, or the pebbly beachfront admiring the sailboats. Explore a beautiful Baroque church or sample the local red shrimps.
Onboard enjoy our daily Globe Insider Breakfast, before we cruise to Portofino later in the morning. Perched on the Italian Riviera, Portofino has a rich culinary scene, a picturesque harbour and narrow streets lined with pastel-hued houses, high-end boutiques and seafood restaurants. Your choice of daily excursions include: a culinary tour in Rapallo, a guided tour of the nearby city of Genoa, a visit to an olive grove with a tasting or more on the active side, a walk from Santa Margherita to the town of Portofino, or finally, a kayaking tour. Later in the afternoon experience a Globe Journalist Talk and this evening we have dinner onboard before we set sail for our next Italian port.
DAY 4
Portoferraio, (Elba) Italy
One of the oldest towns on Elba Island, Portoferraio oozes Tuscan charm. A favourite among beachlovers and history buffs alike, it’s known for enticing sandy shores and distinctive Medici forts, dating back to the 1500s. This morning enjoy a Globe Insider Breakfast followed by your choice of one of four daily excursion options including; a culinary tour at Cantucci bakery and wine tasting, a guided panoramic tour of Western Elba, a walking tour of the town of Portoferraio or follow Napoleon’s path that includes a wine tasting at La Chiusa Winery. This afternoon we host a Globe Journalist Talk and an onboard wine tasting. This evening we have dinner onboard.
DAY 5
Calvi, Corsica, France
According to local legend, Calvi is where the intrepid global explorer, Christopher Columbus, was born. While historians' debate this, the natural beauty and rich culture of Calvi is undisputed. Calvi's beach is a sweeping bay of powdered white sand fringed by maritime pines, and the town has emerged as Corsica’s culture ‘capital’, hosting several music festivals over the summer months. This morning enjoy a Globe Insider Breakfast as Globe journalists review the daily newspaper headlines. Today, choose from one of four daily excursions including; discover Old Corsica with its villages, enjoy a boat ride to a UNESCO marine site, relax at a local beach club or enjoy a guided hike of Calvi. This afternoon we host a Globe Journalist Talk with dinner tonight onboard.
DAY 6
Bonifacio, Corsica, France
Sitting high above the Mediterranean Sea, Bonifacio is known for its dramatic cliffs, ancient fortifications, and a labyrinth of medieval streets. The town is built on a promontory carved out by wind and wave erosion over time, creating a stunning backdrop of white limestone cliffs. This morning we host our daily Globe Insider Breakfast before you head out on your daily excursion choosing from one of the following options; a tour of Bonifacio and taste some local foods, a wine tour of a local winery, snorkelling on the Isle of Lavezzi, visit Sartene and Tonnara beach or enjoy a coast walk and hike to Pertusato. This afternoon enjoy a Globe Journalist. This evening we have dinner onboard the ship.
DAY 7
Porto Ercole, Italy
Porto Ercole is on the eastern side of Monte Argentario, a headland jutting out into the Tyrrhenian Sea. The town's location offers sweeping views of the glistening waters and an abundance of freshly caught seafood. The heart of the town is its harbour, bobbing with fishing boats and luxury yachts. After enjoying the daily Globe Insider Breakfast select from one of four excursions options; tour of Porto Ercole and visit the local market with the Scenic chef, hike to the Fort Filippo, visit the stunning city of Siena for a tour and shopping time, or visit a local winery. This afternoon we host a Globe Journalist Talk followed by an onboard wine tasting. This evening enjoy dinner onboard the ship
DAY 8
Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy
Your luxurious yacht cruise concludes in Civitavecchia, the main seaport for Rome, Italy, where you’ll be transferred to the airport for your return flight home or to continue your holiday.
